Mr. Aarish U. Khan is currently working as the Editor and Head of the Afghanistan Program at the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS). He has over 22 years of experience in research, communication, publication, and development. He has produced over a dozen research papers for national and international organizations, as well as reports and op-eds for various organizations and publications. Since assuming responsibilities as the editor of the publications of the Institute, Mr. Khan has edited multiple issues of Regional Studies, the previously quarterly and now biannual journal of the Institute, and several other publications, such as Focus on Regional Affairs, Spotlight on Regional Affairs, Insight, and monographs and books. He is also the co-founder of an Islamabad-based not-for-profit organization. Previously, Mr. Khan has worked at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in Sweden. He contributes opinion pieces to Pakistani daily The News and the renowned international news platform focusing on the Asia Pacific The Diplomat. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and is an alumnus of the Foreign Service Institute, Virginia, U.S. He has traveled extensively all over Pakistan. He has also traveled to China, India, Iran, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
